Kerr Taylor Foundation Grants

Muriel Kerr-Taylor’s philanthropy lives on. Next year Mt Albert will again enjoy the generosity of one of its most famous families. The Kerr-Taylor Foundation will donate on average a total of between $40,000 to $60,000 annually to groups and individuals within the boundaries of the former City of Mount Albert—see below or click here to view or download a higher resolution map of the City of Mount Albert boundaries.

Muriel’s 1970’s donation of $30,000 to help those in need in the community founded the Foundation that bears the name of her family. The original aim among others was to provide housing for elderly people on the glebe land beside the Anglican Church. This was not achieved and a trust was formed to administer the money. Members are drawn from the Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Roman Catholic churches, the Salvation Army, and the Albert-Eden local board.

Grants are made to provide services for those people denied the quality of life enjoyed by most of us. The board also makes seeding grants for organisations and groups to be established. It will not make any commitment to ongoing funding. Priority is given to applications from individuals or organisations that are from within the former Mt Albert City boundary. Projects and initiatives should also assist people from within this area.

The Objects of the Foundation are:

  1. To do whatever may seem helpful for people in need of physical, mental and spiritual help.
  2. To maintain a fund from which the income will provide a source to enable grants to be made to persons and/or organisations for project seeding funding and assistance generally, irrespective of race, creed or religious affiliation.
  3. For the furtherance of such other charitable purposes as the Board shall determine.
