Previous Recipients
Each year the Kerr Taylor Foundation makes up to $30,000 worth of grants available to members of the Mount Albert community in need of some financial assistance for the benefit of the Mt Albert community.
Here is a slideshow of previous grant recipients. Below we feature some photographic feedback from selected recipients and a full list of recipients each year from 2007.
Shambles Morris Band
In 2023 we provided a grant to the Shambles Morris Band, a group of musicians who provide music for Morris dancers. Our grant helped them purchase materials for their uniforms. The band performs on St Patricks Day, at school and church fairs, and Alberton Market Days.
2021 Chairman Farewell
In 2021 we bid a sad farewell to our former Chairman, Peter Singh. Peter had faithfully served the Kerr Taylor Foundation for over 25 Years as representative of the Anglican Church on the trust.
Raincoats & Gumboots
In 2019 we awarded Mt Albert Primary School a grant for gumboots and raincoats for the students to use when they participate in the Garden to Table programme.
2018 Awards
For 2018 we had one of our largest distribution of grants! These photos are from the Award Ceremony held to give the cheques for the successful grant applicants.
CBM Kids Connect
Children’s Bible Ministries have camps for disabled children every year – Kids Connect Camps). In 2017 the Kerr Taylor Foundation once again helped them with their costs for these camps.
Kids Connect is a camp specifically for children with physical and mild intellectual disabilities aged 9-16. It is held in Blockhouse Bay, Auckland. Their camps are conducted by experienced staff and they take every effort to give children a safe and enjoyable weekend. They have a weekend packed full of action, fun and adventure… there’s always heaps to do! You can find out more on their website.
Training Zach
Assistance dog care trainer Jo was awarded a grant in 2016 to help get Zach ready for placement. They worked with a professional dog trainer on obedience and task behaviours while Zach transitioned from being an adolescent dog to a calm settled adult. He progressed well and learned some of his core tasks over the year. The most important one is walking in his harness. He pulls his leash slightly which stretches out the walker’s steps and enables them to walk more normally. As you can see below, Zach enjoys his time off too!. Zach loves the beach, playing with another golden retriever in the park, and is passionate about sticks.
The money Jo received from the trust enabled her to continue the journey towards Zach becoming a full assistance dog.
Citizens Advice Bureau
In 2012 the Eden-Albert Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) was in need of updating their signage to bring it in to line with the roll-out of new CAB branding across the country. CAB’s provide a critical service to the community – as anyone who has needed a JP can attest! CAB’s can provide helpful legal, financial, consumer, migrant, dispute settlement, education, and well-being advice, plus much more.
It is important that communities can find their nearest CAB easily and the upgraded signs, sporting the new CAB branding, has proven effective for the Eden-Albert community. The Eden-Albert CAB team receiving many positive comments about it. All made possible through a grant from the Kerr Taylor Foundation.
A Mermaid Wish
In 2007 Kerr Taylor Foundation helped to pay for a fish tail to help Nadya Vessey swim. Nadya lost both her legs below the knee from a medical condition when she was a child but now she can swim like a mermaid!
Nadya’s mermaid tail was created by Wellington-based film industry wizards Weta Workshop after Nadya wrote to them two years ago asking if they could make her a prosthetic tail. She was astounded when they agreed. The suit was made mostly of wetsuit fabric and plastic moulds, and was covered in a digitally printed sock. Mermaid-like scales were painted by hand.
